London hiring intentions down but recruitment challenges remain

The number of London businesses looking to recruit declined during Q4 2014, according to the latest Capital 500 report from London Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The number of London businesses looking to recruit declined during Q4 2014, according to the latest Capital 500 report from London Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Over the last three months of last year, 16% of surveyed companies sought to recruit, which was a seven-point decline on the previous quarter.
Over half (52%) of companies experienced problems hiring sufficiently skilled workers over the last quarter, a seven-point increase on the previous quarter.
Recruitment of skilled manual or technical staff proved to be the most difficult area, with 49% of companies struggling to fill those roles.
Filling professional or managerial job vacancies was also a challenge for hiring firms, with 42% of companies reporting difficulties, down from 48% in Q3.
