Mon, 10 Nov 2014Sandwich-making firm Greencore Group will look for new employees in Hungary after failing to find enough applicants in Britain, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
The group’s new £35m factory in Moulton Park, Northampton is due to open in 2016.
Allyson Russell, HR director at Greencore, told the Telegraph that most of its 300 new staff members would be recruited from Hungary. She added that low unemployment in Northampton meant that few people had applied for positions locally.
Greencore is currently advertising for machine setters, cleaners, porters and quality monitors. Russell told the Telegraph: “There aren’t enough people around and it is not always the kind of work people have wanted to do. Ideally, we would be flooded with applications, but actually we are having to work really hard to find people who will come and work for us.”
