Fri, 14 Nov 2014More than 9,000 Christmas jobs are still available in the UK – a 50% increase on last year, according to a study from job search engine Adzuna.co.uk.

The report said that employers are struggling to get the staff they need ahead of the festive rush. It also revealed that the largest proportion of this year’s vacancies could be seen in the areas of sales, logistics and retail.

As of 3 November, there were still vacancies for positions in sales (1,066), warehouses (848) and retail (761).

A third (33%) of the total roles available are in London and the South-East. The lowest number of Christmas jobs can be seen in Wales and Northern Ireland. It is estimated that Royal Mail, Amazon and Sainsbury’s will have around 45,000 festive positions available between them.
