Global hiring levels on the increase, says research

Since the beginning of the year global hiring levels have increased by 6%, with 57% of companies planning to take on staff, according to research conducted by recruiter Antal International.

The highest levels of hiring were found in Belgium (68%) and France (53%), while the lowest were recorded in Sweden and Austria, 26% and 39% respectively.
In the UK the percentage of businesses recruiting has increased from 45% to 47% since January and is predicted to improve by 11% over the final quarter.
Meanwhile, in Austria hiring levels are expected to fall by 3% during the next quarter.
Despite a relatively low level of hiring activity in the Middle East region, the percentage of UAE businesses recruiting is expected to improve by 12% over the coming quarter. Just 3% of companies from Saudi Arabia are planning on letting staff go in the next quarter.
The survey showed that 65% of organisations in China are taking on staff and in Malaysia this figure stands at 60%. By contrast, in Singapore only 36% of companies are taking on new staff.
The US registered the strongest performance in the Americas with 79% of businesses currently seeking staff, while in Latin America the most buoyant hiring market was in Brazil where 65% of businesses were hiring at a professional and managerial level. Hiring levels in Mexico have remained positive with 63% of employers taking on managerial and professional staff.
