However, the opposite seems to have happened, as Mattessons, the UK-based manufacturer of processed-meat based products, has jumped to the footballer’s rescue and offered him a job opportunity.
Mattessons has written to Suarez to express their “deepest condolences” having heard of his four-month ban from footballing activities, but in a letter goes on to say, “every cloud has a silver lining”.
The letter, written by Christopher Owen, meats category director at Mattessons, states that having been “a great admirer” of his talents for many years they would like to offer him the opportunity to put his “passion for fresh meat to good use”.
As such, the food manufacturer has offered Suarez the role of official meat taster in its food technology team.
Mattessons have offered Suarez the opportunity to express his interest by tweeting them at @fridge_raiders, and bookmakers, including Paddy Power, are now offering odds of 100/1 on Suarez joining the firm.
The company added that unlike Barcelona they “will not be including a no-bite clause”.
