REC JobsOutlook: Permanent hiring shows signs of strength

More than three quarters (76%) of employers plan to hire more permanent workers in the next three months, according to the latest JobsOutlook survey by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC).

Small employers (between 11 and 50 employees) are most optimistic about their hiring plans for permanent staff with 78% predicting an increase, while 73% of employers with more than 200 employees said they expect to boost permanent employee numbers.
In contrast, while the temporary labour market also showed signs of strength in March, employers were more cautious, with 48% of employers predicting they will increase their use of temporary workers over the next three months.
Around four in 10 (38%) of small employers plan to increase agency staff numbers, with 48% of large employers expecting to take on more temps.
