Budget airline Easyjet is to create 2,500 jobs at London Luton Airport if expansion plans are approved by the government, according to media reports.

The airline currently employs 1,600 staff at its headquarters in Luton. The company recently signed a new 10-year deal with the airport, which could see passenger numbers more than double from 4m to 9m a year.
At the end of last year, the local council approved increasing airport capacity to enable 18m passengers to travel through in a year, up from the current 10m a year. However, the decision is being reviewed by communities secretary Eric Pickles.
