FINANCIALS: Impellam revenues decrease 0.4% for 2013

Impellam, the outsourcing and staffing specialist company, saw global revenues fall by 0.4% to £1.206bn for the year-end 27 December 2013, compared with £1.211bn in 2012.

Group operating profit before non-recurring items was £28.6m, representing a £5m reduction on the previous year (2012: £33.6m).
UK revenues increased 1.4% to £772.5m compared with last year’s figure of £762.2m. Gross profit for the UK increased 1.8% from £102.6m last year, to £104.4m for 2013.
Julia Robertson, chief executive office, said: “I am pleased to report that our staffing businesses in the UK and North America have made consistent quarter-on-quarter progress in gradually improving markets.”
As Recruiter reported last week, Impellam expects to make a loss of £22.8m from two long-term contacts entered into by its managed service provider business Carlisle Support Services.
“These two contracts have had a serious impact on our overall financial performance in 2013 and a provision of £23m has been taken as an exceptional item,” confirmed Robertson.
