Mon, 17 Feb 2014The number of professionals seeking a new position in the city rose 98% in the last month, according to recent figures from recruiter Morgan McKinley.
The London Employment Monitor found 8,328 professionals seeking a new role in January, up from 4,214 in December.
Year-on-year data is equally as promising, as the number of candidates pursuing new roles was up 64% on January 2013 figures.
At the same time, the number of vacancies increased from 4,095 in December 2013 to 7,623 last month, an 86% increase.
Hakan Enver, operations director, Morgan McKinley Financial Services, attributes what he called “a huge hike” in positions across the board to newly released recruitment budgets and an increased urgency for certain positions.
“As economic confidence hit a record high, job vacancies have risen at the fastest rate since 1998,” he adds.
