Unemployment falling in majority of US cities

Unemployment rates fell in 293 out of 372 US metropolitan areas year-on-year in November, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, unemployment rates were higher in 71 areas and remained unchanged in eight.

Atlantic City-Hammonton, New Jersey, recorded the largest drop in unemployment, with jobless numbers falling 4.7% year-on-year, while Danville, Illinois, had the largest increase at 2.3%.

The national US unemployment rate was 6.6% in November, down from 7.4% a year earlier.
