Mon, 13 Jan 2014The number of new City jobs jumped by two thirds in December compared to December 2012, according to finance and IT recruiter Astbury Marsden.
However, the number of jobs in 2013 was 21% below 2012, with 27,915 new jobs created. Astbury Marsden notes that the decline in new City roles is slowing, with 2011-12 registering a 35% decrease in job creation, and positive growth in November and December.
Mark Cameron, chief operating officer at Astbury Marsden, says: “In 2013, that shrinkage has slowed down. In both November and December the number of new roles has been better in comparison to the same month the previous year, rather than worse, as had been the case for 22 consecutive months.”
November registered 38% more jobs opening compared to the same month last year.
