Wed, 4 Dec 2013Global energy recruiter Spencer Ogden has opened a new office in Cape Town, South Africa.

Its 11th office globally, this follows news of new bases in Australia and Germany in recent months – although we are still waiting on the Brazil office the company had promised “towards the end of the year”.

Founder and chief executive officer David Spencer-Percival says: “The energy sector in Sub-Saharan Africa is booming and this growth is set to continue due to the immense potential displayed by the region’s drilling and exploration sectors.”

The Cape Town office will be headed up by country manager Chris McPherson, who joins from rival oil recruiter Air Energi, having also worked for agencies Fusion People and Leap 29.

McPherson’s team is completed by six consultants, plus recently-appointed Portuguese speaker Miguel Albuquerque, who is the country manager for Mozambique, who will use his language to tap into the market.

Other recruitment firms opening up in South Africa recently include:

•    Oil & gas recruiter NES Global Talent

•    ITHR Group – with an office in Johannesburg

•    Executive and interim recruiter BIE Group
