Thu, 21 Nov 2013Harvard students disrupted a Bank of America recruitment event earlier this week saying they would rather “accept a job digging our own graves”.
The recruitment event in Cambridge, Massachusetts was disrupted by protests against the company from students from Harvard University, financial media company Bloomberg reports.
The protest was part of Rainforest Action Network’s campaign to convince banks to stop investing in coal.
Campaigning group Students for a Just and Stable Future says in a letter to the bank posted on its website: “Our generation will not work for companies that threaten to destroy our future by funding climate chaos… while Bank of America continues its massive coal investments, we might as well accept a job digging our own graves.”
A Harvard undergraduate told Bloomberg that recruiting events at other universities by both Bank of America and Citigroup have also previously been the subject of protests.
