The Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps is The Queen’s Representative at the Court of St. James’s, where Heads of Foreign Diplomatic Missions are accredited.
The job description says: “The Marshal therefore acts as the Royal Household’s point of contact for the London accredited diplomatic Heads of Mission, organises their participation at State and other official occasions, and provides informal, non-official, non-political advice about the UK.”
Candidates also require experience in a senior grade UK diplomatic post, and according to The Daily Telegraph, the ability to walk backwards – one of only two visitors to the Queen still expected to carry out this traditional practice.
