Wed, 9 Oct 2013A new report from the World Economic Forum (WEF), in collaboration with consulting firm Mercer, identifies the global markets best positioned to contribute to effective workforce development, growth potential and economic success.

The full Human Capital Report, based on the WEF’s human capital index, is available online, and shows the UK sitting at eighth in a top 10 dominated by Northern and Western Europe, whose monopoly is only broken by Singapore in third place and 10th-ranked Canada.

The UK is ranked eighth globally on its business enabling environment, but falls back on health and wellness, where it lies in 17th place.

Ranking 112 nations globally, representing more than 90% of the world’s population, Mercer partner Rick Guzzo says the report will “help to inform strategic workforce planning and policies that will ensure that countries and regions will have the right talent with the right skills to meet the future needs of employers”.
