Tue, 22 Oct 2013Leaps in profit in the French and US operations of Manpower saw the global staffing firm increase its earnings by 45% in the third quarter of 2013.

The company recorded earnings of $157m (£97m) in Q3, compared with $108.5m in Q3 2013, on marginally-improved revenues of $5.19bn, up 0.3% on Q3 2012 – although this actually equates to a 0.3% drop when expressed at constant currency.

France, Manpower’s biggest market, saw a 2.1% rise in revenues to $1.42bn, while profit for the country jumped by 61% to $58.4m.

The US saw just $1m extra revenues, reaching $761.8m, but operating profit increased by 40% to $34.3m. This continued good news in the US market for Manpower comes after the unveiling in May of a new multi-channel delivery model of speed of service and access to new talent.

Northern Europe also saw profits grow by 18% reaching $50.3m, on a small rise in revenues, while the small ‘Other Southern Europe’ division saw the biggest revenue rise, going from $2.2m to $4m.
