Mon, 28 Oct 2013Digital recruiter Nakama Group saw stable revenues and increased gross profit, buoyed by its Asia-Pacific revenues, in the six months to 30 September.

Revenue shrank by less than 0.1% the against the same period in the previous year, totalling £8.6m, while gross profit of £2.1m was £54k higher than for the previous period. Asia-Pacific revenues, making up 30% of the business, grew by 38%, while UK revenues shrunk from £6.7m to just under £6m.

However, the company made a loss of £31k against the previous £11k profit. In the previous financial year, to 31 March 2013, the company’s results were hit significantly by fund mismanagement in its Hong Kong office.

Ken Ford, chairman of Nakama, says the firm is “optimistic for the second half and look forward to meeting head-on what is still a challenging marketplace, but one on which we feel we are strategically well placed to capitalise”.

The period saw a new executive structure at the recruitment firm confirmed in June, after chief executive officer Stefan Ciecierski left the company suddenly in May.

Nakama’s results should shortly be made available in full via the company's website.
