Thu, 22 Aug 2013The managing director of Steria Recruitment says the company’s recently launched academy will play a vital role in the company “getting smarter” and ultimately be good for business.
Peter Holliday tells recruiter.co.uk: “I am on a mission for everyone in Steria Recruitment, regardless of their role, to have a deeper understanding of our customers and to be able to do a better job for them. This will help us stand out from the crowd and will therefore be good for business.”
The new academy, which Holliday officially launched at the end of July (pictured), covers a wide range of topics. These include legislation affecting recruitment, cash flow management, how to make better use of the company’s search tools, project management, and understanding the company’s terms and conditions.
The academy also aims to provide Steria’s staff with expert knowledge of the markets its clients operate in through courses on how IT, HR, finance, procurement functions drive and support business. “These will help staff to understand what customers are trying to do and what candidates need to do to fill those roles,” says Holliday.
He says he wants 100% of the company’s recruiters to complete all of the modules within the next 12 months, and three quarters of support staff to complete half. The academy is open to all Steria’s staff both in the UK and India.
Holliday adds that the academy, which will cost the company around £40-50k a year to run, should pay for itself within two years.
