A diverse range of new roles are coming up at UK car maker Lotus, online retailer Overstock.com and travel firm Virgin Holidays.
Lotus
Lotus is embarking on a recruitment drive, seeking more than 100 new employees, following a £100m investment by owner DRB-HICOM.
The talent sought includes 45 specialist engineers, 40 manufacturing operatives and 18 graduate positions, created in response to an increased global demand for the company’s sports cars and a rise in interest in engineering consultancy services.
The firm employs more than 1,100 employees across the UK, and is focused on expanding into global markets as 90% of its vehicles are exported.
Mark Pym, head of HR, calls the expansion “a positive sign for the UK car industry”. The announcement follows last month’s 1,000-job announcement by Bentley, which drew praise for the broader industry from the Prime Minister.
Overstock.com
The online retailer is to create more than 45 new jobs in a new software team, Irish minister for jobs, enterprise and innovation Richard Bruton announces.
The investment for the company, which employs 1,300 people worldwide, is supported by Bruton’s department through investment agency IDA Ireland.
Virgin Holidays
The worldwide holiday company is recruiting for 100 roles in September and October at its HQ in Crawley, West Sussex.
The positions are a mix of sales centre and IT projects and development roles, with the company due to hold assessment centres in Crawley in August and September.
Candidates are directed to the Virgin Holidays careers site.
The company says that over the last year it has also announced 100 new retail apprenticeships and 250 full-time retail roles in its high street stores.
