Tue, 27 Aug 2013Telco providers BT and EE have announced recruitment drives for 150 and 300 staff, respectively.
BT
The company says it expects to create 150 new posts as part of a drive for new engineers to help roll out fibre broadband across Scotland, with around 90 of these posts situated in the Highlands and Islands.
The company will take the new staff on 18-month contracts.
With recruitment already under way, director of BT Scotland Brendan Dick says the firm is “looking for dynamic, customer-focused people with a can-do attitude”, adding that the job is “skilled, interesting work which will give the successful recruits the chance to gain experience in a fast-paced, constantly evolving industry and be at the forefront of connecting communities to the future”.
These jobs come on top of 1,000 engineering roles UK-wide announced in March. BT also has a strong track record for employing former armed forces personnel in engineering roles.
EE
Up to 200 new jobs will be created in Merthyr Tydfil and a further 100 in the North East of England as the firm looks to bolster its customer care centres.
Recruitment has begun, with the company saying it “expects successful applicants to be helping customers within weeks”.
The new jobs include a mix of full- and part-time roles, and a further 40 apprentices will also be taken on in the coming weeks and months. The firm recruits all apprentices through College Merthyr Tydfil.
EE said earlier this year that it would take on 500 apprentices by 2015.
