Mon, 22 Jul 2013Recruitment firm Manpower earned four times more profit in its US operations for the second quarter of 2013 than the same period last year, providing the biggest group-wide boost to the firm’s fortunes.

US profits totalled $30.6m (£20m) up from $7.7m in the same period in 2012. Profit growth was also seen in its ‘Other Americas’ division, as well as France and Italy.

The extra $22.9m generated in the US saw the company’s group-wide operating profit rise by over a third from $94.4m to $128.1m. This was despite a currency-adjusted 2.9% decline in revenues over the year, including a 1.9% drop in the US.

Last quarter, the firm had seen major profit growth in its French division, but still saw global revenues and group-wide profit drop.

Across the first six months of the year, the company saw operating profit drop by 1.5% currency-adjusted, while revenues dropped by 4.3%.
