Announced last month and reported by recruiter.co.uk, the new service allows individuals to apply for a single vetting certificate that is valid for a year.

A spokesperson for the DBS told Recruiter that the service would be relevant principally to individuals working with vulnerable adults and children, for example in care homes, as nurses or in fostering.

Key information for employers and applicants, with updates based on feedback in weeks since the initial announcement was made, is available via the government's web portal gov.uk.
