Tue, 4 Jun 2013Sales & marketing is to be the hiring hotspot for professional and managerial-level staff across the globe, with IT also looking strong.

The Antal Global Snapshot, produced by recruitment firm Antal International, asked 9,923 line managers and HR managers in 47 countries whether they were hiring or letting people go in management and professional roles over the coming quarter.

In all six regions of the report, the sales & marketing discipline was the one where strongest hiring was expected, at:
  • 63% of firms in Western Europe
  • 47% of firms in the Middle East
  • 39% of firms in the Americas
  • 37% of firms in Asia-Pacific
  • 29% of firms in Africa
  • 21% of firms in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

In the Middle East, Africa and the two European regions, IT technical and IT support was also the second most likely place for hiring, with engineering & production in third place.

In the Americas, IT was third, behind engineering & production, while Asia-Pacific’s second and third most prolific hiring disciplines were logistics, and engineer & production.

China is looking likely to be the top market for hiring, with 75% of managers expecting to recruit. The only other market reaching 70% was Egypt, against a global average of 52%, with the UK standing at 53%.

The 14th Antal Global Snapshot is available from the recruitment firm's website.
