New Zealand construction recruiter Key Skills Recruitment’s director Ailsa McGavin says she is “surprised and heartened” by support it has received from clients after a construction company it supplied to went into receivership last week.

McGavin was speaking to Radio New Zealand after property and construction firm Mainzeal collapsed, leaving 20 subcontractors supplied by the recruiter out of work.

McGavin says that after initially being banned from entering the site, the workers have since been able to obtain their tools, and in some cases move on to offers of jobs with companies who knew they would be in need of the work.
