Specialist professional recruiter Eurostaff is anticipating increased demand for computer professionals and engineers with an understanding of energy efficiency within the German automotive market.

The country’s auto market produced €351bn (£295bn) in turnover in 2011, and while in an analysis of the market Eurostaff says it expects a “slight growth in 2013” across the sector in general, specific areas should see upwards trends of particular interest to recruiters.

Firstly, with the technology behind automotives becoming more complex, “computer technicians with experience in consumer electronics and semi-conductors are particularly in high demand”.

Secondly, with rising energy costs against the backdrops of economies either stagnant or in recession, consumers are becoming more interested in fuel-efficient vehicles, hence “engineers with energy efficiency experience are a sought after commodity” – a trend Eurostaff expects to see maintained for two or three years.
