Ryan Broad (pictured right), global head of recruitment for visual effects and post production provider The Moving Picture Company, describes his philosophy of recruitment as “breaking everything down into five days’ worth of work”.

Broad, profiled in next week's December issue of Recruiter, says: “Typically, if you give me the information I need, I can find what you want in five days. And the second five days, we can agree and screen out and make sure you’ve got the shortlist. By the third week, you’re going to be interviewing, but you need to give me everything up front.”He advises hiring managers to “keep it simple. Make sure your information is gathered up front; be 100% knowing what you’re looking for, you totally know what the proposition is for the individual you’re going to talk to, and then you go and find the right person.

“Experience has taught me, as long as you can go to market within five days, you can generate a decent slate of candidates.”

Broad will speak at Recruiter’s Smart Resourcing 2013 conference on 28 February in London. For more information, see the Smart Resourcing website.
