Royal Mail Group has confirmed that Angard Staffing Solutions, its in-house agency which ran into significant problems recruiting seasonal staff last Christmas, will not be involved in the recruitment of the 1,000 new jobs that Royal Mail announced on Tuesday (30 October).
A spokesperson for the Royal Mail tells Recruiter that the recruitment “will be handled by Parcelforce’s internal recruitment campaign”.Some temporary Royal Mail staff recruited through Angard, which is operated by Reed Specialist Recruitment, last Christmas had pay issues that were not resolved until June, according to the Communication Workers Union (CWU), alongside other delays and issues with candidate care and payment.
The CWU was speaking with Recruiter on the news, reported in the October edition of the magazine, that Angard would not be used by Royal Mail for mail and distribution centres this Christmas, although it “will use Angard Staffing Solutions for some recruitment in areas where no difficulties were experienced last year, for example, in our manual data entry centres”.
A spokesperson from Reed told Recruiter to contact the Royal Mail press office for comment.
