Professional businesses are increasingly relying on temporary staff, according to the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).
The trade body says that temporary placements rose by 4% in October, however the number of permanent jobs fell by 2% in the 12 months to October, according to its research.
APSCo chief executive Ann Swain says: “We’re seeing a very continuous trend in the professional recruitment market towards the hiring of temporary staff in preference to permanent staff. Businesses still don’t have the confidence to make permanent hires when they can use temporary staff instead.”
