Impellam chair Cheryl Jones steps down following ‘successful turnaround’
Cheryl Jones has stepped down from her role as chair of the board of staffing group Impellam, “following the successful turnaround and transformational restructuring of the Group”, a company statement notes.
She had held the post since May 2009, having previously held non-executive board roles since September 2008. As recruiter.co.uk reported this summer, the company’s restructuring is on course to conclude by the end of the current financial year. It made adjusted operating profit of £15.8m in the first six months of 2012.
Jones will continue to work with the group over the upcoming months “to ensure an efficient and effective transition”, as current non-exec director Andrew Wilson, who joined the firm in May 2008, takes on the role of chair.
Conditional of shareholder approval, which would come at a 22 November general meeting, Jones has been granted an option to purchase a further 500,000 shares in the company, bringing her total to 1.7m or 3.83% of its issued share capital.
Wilson comments: “The Board very much want to acknowledge the outstanding contribution that Cheryl has made to Impellam over the past three years.
“The strategy of the Group remains focused on our key markets, and our current and prospective clients. While the economic environment remains a major challenge, the restructured organisation and the diversity of the company's portfolio provide a sound operational and financial base for the on-going success of the Group.”
