New research from the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) finds that 49% of UK employers are unaware of the government’s Work Programme.
The Labour Market Outlook report, surveying 1,000 UK firms and available online here, also shows that of those companies that are aware of it but do not wish to hire through it, 48% do so because they do not think it is relevant to their organisation.
However, of those companies which have hired from the programme, 79% said recruits met or exceeded their expectations, and 58% said candidates were better prepared for interviews and demonstrated better presentation skills as a result of the programme.
