Scottish recruitment agency Search Consultancy reports that it is at the halfway stage in its campaign to recruiter more than 1,000 staff for the organising committee of next year’s Commonwealth Games, being held in Glasgow.
Fri, 23 Aug 2013Scottish recruitment agency Search Consultancy reports that it is at the halfway stage in its campaign to recruiter more than 1,000 staff for the organising committee of next year’s Commonwealth Games, being held in Glasgow.

With 1,044 employees needed to cover 453 job types, the company has placed 480 candidates to date, including 183 out of a total of 384 it expects to place this year. The firm hired 200 people for the Games last year.

Last year, Search’s managing director told Recruiter she had “empathy” for security firm G4S, which had experienced high-profile problems in delivering its contract to recruit staff for the London Olympic Games, but said she was confident that similar problems would be avoided.

Next year will see Search running 120 assessment centres where it expects to generate around 19,000 applications.

The agency says it initially expected it would need a team of around six people to deliver the three-year project, but that this has now risen to 14 and may reach 16 next month.

Shona McKenzie, recruitment account director at Search, comments: “On occasions we are recruiting for positions where there are only six technical experts in the world who can do the job, so it’s been imperative that we know how to reach these people.

“At the same time, we are managing high-volume activity where there can be 1,400 applications for a single position.
