Nearly 80% of part-qualified accountants and transactional finance candidates will look for a new jobs in the next six months, finds research from Page Personnel Finance, part of Michael Page International.

The survey of 700 finance professionals across the UK also finds that the candidates put scope of role as the most important factor in choosing their next position, ahead of remuneration and career progression. And despite the competitive jobs market, 54% of respondents said they were very or quite confident in finding a role, while only 13% said they had no confidence at all.

Nicholas Kirk, managing director of Page Personnel Finance, says: “I’m pleased to see role scope come out as the respondents’ highest priority as relevant experience has many benefits to candidates at this level… one of the biggest challenges for newly qualified accountants looking for work is not having the relevant experience alongside their qualifications.

“The best finance professionals should be confident as they are in a position where recruitment is fluid despite prevailing conditions in the market,” he adds.
