The two highest rates of pay inflation for permanent general staffing roles are to be found in the East Midlands, finds a survey from commercial recruiter Office Angels based on data from Mysalarychecker.com, also part of Adecco Group.
Administrator roles in the East Midlands saw permanent salaries rise by 3.4% in Q3 2012 compared with Q2, while sales adviser roles went up 3.7%, although nationwide salaries for permanent roles dropped by 0.2% on average.
Other healthy pay rises were seen for customer service jobs in the South-West (up 3.3%), retail jobs in Yorkshire and sales adviser posts in the East (both up 2.9%). Alongside Wales, London saw less salary buoyancy, with Andrew Morris, a senior branch manager for Office Angels in central London’s Oxford Circus, calling the quarter “a challenge in central London, due to the Diamond Jubilee, Olympics and Paralympics… resulting in many clients putting their recruitment processes on hold”.
