Remploy is to deliver a £2.3m scheme aimed at supporting 400 young people with learning disabilities into work, as part of the Mayor of London-European Social Fund Youth Programme.
The programme will be delivered in 22 London boroughs, with employers including Transport for London and the London Transport Museum also signed up to offer work placements for candidates.According to Remploy figures, there are currently 10m disabled people of working age living in the UK, with only 49% in work, which director of employment services at the firm describes as “shockingly low” figures.
“There are many thousands of people who could be living more fulfilling lives if they had a job and the figures represent a huge waste of talent.”
