Younger jobseekers feeling most confident, finds Evenbase survey
Despite rising unemployment most affecting the youngest section of the UK population, those under 30 came across as the most positive about their job situation in a survey by digital recruitment group Evenbase.
The survey was conducted between April and May, coinciding with the Office for National Statistics’ news in its April release of labour market statistics that unemployment had fallen for the first time in nearly a year.
The Quarterly Recruitment Review surveying 500 jobseekers found 16% of jobseekers aged 23-30 feeling a ‘bit better’ about their job situation than they were a year ago, and 8% feeling a ‘lot better’.
By comparison, only 6% of those in their 30s and 5% of those aged 41-54 felt a bit better, and only 1% and 2% respectively felt a lot better in those two age groups.
Across the boards, 45% of jobseekers said they felt about the same as they did last year, with little variation for age. Gender also revealed little variation in the results.
