Unemployment expected to reach 2 million

Unemployment will increase by 300,000 over the next few years, according to new economic predictions.

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), in its quarterly economic forecast, said it expects the UK to experience a ‘technical recession’ in the next six to nine months.

David Kern, BCC economic adviser, said: “Unemployment is likely to increase by nearly 300,000 over the next few years, reaching almost 2 million.”
