Current undergraduates have unrealistic expectations of the UK jobs market, according to new research from Totaljobs.com.

The poll of 500 undergraduates and recent graduates shows that while the average graduate salary is currently £25,000, one in 10 undergraduates believe they will earn over £35,000 in their first graduate job, compared to 59% of those that have already graduated who have salary expectations below £20,000. 

The research also shows that whereas 70% of undergraduates expect to land a job within the next six months, this falls to 56% for those who have already graduated.
