Turnover up at Capita

Public sector recruiter The Capita Group has seen turnover increase by 10% in its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2009.

Public sector recruiter The Capita Group has seen turnover increase by 10% in its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2009.

For the period:

  • Turnover rose to £2,687m from £2,441m (2008)
  • Underlying operating profit increased by 11% to £357.7m from £320.9m (2008)
  • Underlying operating profit before tax rose 17% to £325.1m from £277.2m

(Both underlying operating profit and underlying operating profit before tax exclude related costs)

Paul Pindar, chief executive of Capita Group, says: “Capita delivered a strong performance in 2009. Organic growth was steady across the year with a number of new major contracts secured in the year and with businesses across the group delivering robust results.
“Additional spend by existing clients was lower in 2009 but a focus on optimising our operational infrastructure and the growth of our offshore operation ensured that we continued to increase margins.”
