The number of households with no one in employment is on the rise, according to official figures.

The figures from the Office for National Statistics reveal that last year there were three areas across the UK where more than three out
of every 10 households had no one in work.

The regions were Liverpool (31.9%), Nottingham (31.6%) and Glasgow City (30.7%).

This is the second consecutive year that these three areas have had the highest percentage of workless households, although for Liverpool and Glasgow City the percentage fell, from 32.1% and 31.1% respectively.

Government plans to re-wire the state with civil servant moves

Thousands of civil servants – including senior leaders – will be based in 13 towns and cities across the UK to work with frontline workers and local leaders.
