Ipswich, Newcastle and Greenford will all benefit from Tesco’s job creation programme this year.

A Tesco spokesperson told Recruiter: “All new stores across the country will continue to work in partnership with Jobcentre Plus for every store opening to provide jobseekers with a rapid response and jobs at all levels, from customer assistants through to line managers.

“This year we’ll be recruiting 500 people in Newcastle as part of our five-year plan to create 1,000 new jobs in our customer service centre in the city.

“Our new store in Ipswich will be the first regeneration partnership in the East of England and will create 600 jobs. A dotcom warehouse in Greenford will also create 500 jobs.

“In the North-West we are opening two regeneration partnership stores in Walkden and Middleton. Our latest environmental store will open in Falkirk this summer, creating  up to 300 jobs, while a regeneration development in Northcott will provide 200 additional jobs.”
