Teachanywhere, part of Randstad Education, has been chosen by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) to recruit teachers to work across the 300 state schools in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Abu Dhabi Emirate’s Education Reform aims to change the national curriculum from Arabic-only to both English and Arabic, to produce Abu Dhabi citizens who are fully bilingual.

There are currently more than 700 Western-trained teachers working in Abu Dhabi in this new bilingual system and ADEC expects to hire almost 1,000 more in the next year.

The firm is recruiting from the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Candidates must be fully qualified for primary or secondary English, with a minimum of two years post-qualification experience teaching primary or secondary English. Candidates also need to be flexible, as the school system is so large, teachers will not know which school or location they will be placed in until arrival.

Salaries will be paid in local currency and are the equivalent, at current exchange rates, of roughly £26,000 to £40,000 tax free per annum — which is the equivalent of a £30,000 to £60,000 per annum salary after tax.

Teachers also benefit from annual flights and furnished housing as part of the package, in addition to an end of service bonus of one month for every year of service.

Government plans to re-wire the state with civil servant moves
