SmallTalk: Recruiter swaps rat race for farm

Stand back Richard Briers and Felicity Kendall, Mike Ogilvie, better known to the industry as managing director of City-based financial services recruitment Ogilvie Search, this month donned a pair of wellie boots to take part in the BBC’s Good Lifereality TV show A Farmer’s Life For Me.

Screened on BBC2 last Tuesday at 8pm, Ogilvie and his wife managed to escape the rat race throughout July last year when the series was filmed.

Participating couples competed during tasks, such as ploughing fields, butchering and building a small holding, all with the aim to win the chance to run their own farm for a year.

Whether this starts a trend of recruiters entering such reality TV shows as the X Factor or Britain’s Got Talent remains to be seen, but let’s hope not, eh?
