Public sector recruiter and outsourced services provider Servoca made a profit of £860,000 for the six months ending 31 March 2009. This compares with a loss of £360,000 in the same period a year ago.

Revenue grew 83% to £30.1m from £16.46m in 2008.

Gross profit was 67% higher at £8.46m (2008: £5.07m).

Servoca chief executive, Andrew Church, says: “Turnover, gross profit and profit before tax are all ahead of board expectations and the group has made a solid start to the year.

“The group completed a substantial restructuring and cost reduction exercise during the period and the results for the first half reflect the impact of this exercise.

“Servoca holds some attractive market positions in resilient sectors and the focus will be on further developing the potential within the group through organic growth.

“Servoca will continue to serve many areas of public sector recruitment that suffer from manpower supply shortages. The underlying growth in public sector recruitment remains strong and the board remain of the view that this provides positive long-term prospects.”
