SalesMatch identifies the right sales animal

SalesMatch is making its sales recruitment portal available as a white label product for employers early next year. The web-based portal has built-in behavioural profiling that enables it to intelligently match candidates to sales positions.
After sitting a short profiling test, candidates are given a report detailing their characteristics and are categorised as a particular sales animal. For instance, a sales lion’s primary characteristics include drive and forcefulness, and the profile suggests they have a sales style well suited to closing new business.
Sales director Spencer Davies told Recruiter that the technology will enable organisations to benchmark existing sales personnel as well as managing the sales recruitment process. “The engine will allow organisations to filter job applicants directly via a private database in addition to having the optional access to the SalesMatch site,” he explained. “The portal will have all the functionality contained within SalesMatch and an integrated personalised customer relationship
management system.”
SalesMatch was launched by Phil Hagen and Brent Sercombe who together have 40 years’ experience of the telecommunications and IT industries at senior management level and were aware of the challenges faced by many companies when it comes to recruiting high quality sales people.
When employers post a role, SalesMatch asks several questions designed to help match candidates to their roles. These include: how much of the role is dedicated to new business as opposed to account management? To what degree does it require complex proposal writing skills? And how much of the job is client-facing? The software engine behind the portal then matches the most suitable candidate profiles to the position by industry experience and sales profile.
The decision to categorise people as sales animals has proven popular with customers. There are around 18 animals, which include dolphins, well suited to new business or account management, and gazelles, seen as organised and focused sales people.
SalesMatch’s current web-based service is free to candidates and works on a pay-as-you-go model for employers.
