Nick Bancroft, joint managing director of rec-to-rec recruiter McCall, told Recruiter: “It tends to be the smaller agencies who are still hiring,” adding the IT sector has done particularly well in adapting to a sales-focused environment. 

The company’s share of turnover coming from multi-sector recruiters dropped from 9% in Q4 2008 to 0% in Q1 2009.

IT grew its share of profit by 14.8% between Q4 2008 and Q1 2009. The amount of business coming from commercial, industrial and sales, also grew from 0% to 18.1% between Q4 and Q1.
