Public sector savings? Don't make me laugh

Chris Slay

In a previous incarnation I wasted so much time on public sector inertia that I read your article with amusement (‘Industry warns against cutting corners’, recruiter.co.uk, 20 November).

I will track responses to this article to see if it changes my view. However, with time being a scarce resource I can see no business justification in getting bogged down in a bureaucratic quagmire until such time as the bureaucrats start to produce the goods which would embrace the steps mentioned in the article, but hopefully simplified and edited to a workable job description. In my experience this can take weeks/months and then a wholly unrealistic search period is given.

Sorry, but I think I’ll be spending my time elsewhere, especially in a period where the bloated public sector should be being culled.
