More than one in three employers plan to take on apprentices

More than a third (35%) of employers plan to recruit apprentices this year, according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) 2011 Learning and Talent Development survey.

More than a third (35%) of employers plan to recruit apprentices this year, according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) 2011 Learning and Talent Development survey.

However, the survey also shows 43% do not intend to recruit apprentices this year, while 22% have no set plans in an uncertain economic climate, with widespread staffing requirements.

Meanwhile 45% of employers have not employed apprentices in the past three years, with two thirds (68%) considering apprenticeships inappropriate for their organisation.
