Major provider makes mobile move

Mobile recruiting has received a further boost with the announcement that global HR and resourcing business systems provider Kenexa is introducing support for users of mobile devices such as iPhone, BlackBerry and smartphones. The company has been active in the mobile space for more than 10 years with products such as its e-Link requisition approval, but this latest development will allow users to access its software anywhere and anytime.
Barrett Richardson, director of Kenexa Recruiter BrassRing product management, told Recruiter that the move is about far more than a shift towards the mobile space and ensures recruiters can be “where the candidate is”.
“With Generation Y and post-Generation Y, the idea that the candidate is looking for you is diminishing,” he said. “It [mobile] allows employers to start the conversation with the candidate wherever they are. It means they get that warm touch and the candidate gets that instant gratification.”
Upcoming hiring features include mobile contact management, the ability to review candidates in a click and advance them through the application process and increased visibility of candidates in real-time. Candidates, meanwhile, can view available positions at a company’s career site, apply to jobs and submit covering letters in one click.
Richardson said he doesn’t believe mobile developments mean recruiters and hiring managers will no longer work at their desktops. The increased flexibility is more significant for improving efficiency, he pointed out. “There are major productivity gains, especially if you have a high-value position to fill, because you can get to the information when and where you need it,” he explained.
