It pays to use social media to find an expert

A survey into buyer behaviour on social networking sites has revealed that decision makers in industry are favourably disposed toward using such methods to both locate and be contacted by experts whose services they would be willing to pay for.

Business development consultancy Gordon BDM found that 66.7% of buyers in sales, marketing, finance and HR said they would consider using LinkedIn to find an expert. The findings also revealed that 68.4% would accept “a polite, intelligent invitation” to connect from someone they were yet to meet. A whopping 80.6% said they might pay their new contact for a service.

Following the survey, Gordon BDM has launched a new training service specifically for recruiters that is aimed at helping them make the most intelligent use of sites such as LinkedIn and win new clients.
