IOR to lobby in Brussels

The Institute of Recruiters (IOR), which launched on Wednesday, plans to lobby in Brussels on behalf of recruiters and the recruitment industry, according to its founder.

Azmat Mohammed, told Recruiter that while the IOR initially plans to focus on its educational and training activities in the UK, followed by expansion in the US, it plans to set up an office in Brussels.

“As an international organisation, we will have a network of people that will get involved in the committees in Brussels.”

“AWR (Agency Workers Regulations) hasn’t come out of the UK……… It is better to be involved at the ground level rather than trying to change what already exists.”

However Mohammed added that Brussels was “one of the lowest items on our agenda.”

“Primarily, we will work to support members within the current framework of legislation,” he added.
